The Applications Analyst position at Odessa College is responsible for analyzing and improving the institution’s computer systems and software applications, with a strong emphasis on web development and/or application programming. In addition to researching and identifying system issues, designing and implementing solutions, providing user support and training, and maintaining system documentation, the Applications Analyst will also have a key role in developing and programming web-based applications or scripting. They will work closely with users and IS/IT staff to identify and implement improvements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the reliability and security of the system.
Specific Position Duties
The Applications Analyst will work closely with institutional users and IS/IT staff to identify and implement improvements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the reliability and security of the system. Additionally, the Applications Analyst will collaborate with other departments and vendors to evaluate and recommend new technology solutions.

-Solid understanding of various computer systems and software applications.
-Demonstrate and gain knowledge of Ellucian Colleague (SIS) processes related to Finance, Payroll, HR, Student, Financial Aid, AR, academic policies, and procedures.

-Provide technical assistance by responding to incident requests regarding errors, problems, or questions with programs, processes, and data reporting.
-Coordinate with departments and various project leaders on-campus for new programming needs and for modification of existing applications.
-Analyze errors and revises processes as required to meet industry best practice solutions.
-Work closely with technical teams and project stakeholders to support successful project planning and deployment of applications.
-Maintain confidentiality of information exposed to during business operations, regarding students, supervisors, or other employees.
Minimum Qualifications
-Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, web development, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
-Proficiency in web development languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, .NET, and PHP.
-Ability to design, develop, and maintain websites and web applications using responsive web design principles.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to work collaboratively with users, IS/IT staff, and vendors.
-Knowledge of database management and system integration.
-Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
-Understanding of information security and data privacy best practices.

Preferred Qualifications
-Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, web development, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
-Familiarity with project management principles and tools.
-Familiarity with database systems such as Microsoft SQL and MySQL.
-Experience with server-side scripting languages such as Python and Node.js
-Knowledge of API development and integration.
-Familiarity with RAD/Waterfall/Agile development methodologies.
