Job Description

This full time, 9-month faculty position will begin in August of 2023.
All positions are located in Kilgore, or Longview, TX. No fully remote positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX and/or Longview, TX Campus.

Position responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include teaching anatomy and physiology, majors and non-majors biology. Expectations for this position may include the following: teach in afternoons and/or evenings (non-peak times); teach on the Longview and Kilgore campus; develop and teach web classes; develop and teach hybrid or blended classes; and use instructional technology in the classroom. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: participation in academic advising, registration, and regular office hours. It is expected that all instructors participate in committee work, professional development activities, and student recruitment/retention activities. All full time faculty are required to complete online course certification through the KC Faculty Innovation Center within their first year of employment.

Minimum Qualifications:

A master’s degree or higher with a minimum of eighteen graduate hours in the biological sciences from an accredited institution is required. Preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience in Biology. Candidates for this position must have a mastery of the biological sciences and have a commitment to excellence in teaching at the community college level.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office and classroom environment.
  • No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

Safety:

Provide resources for safe operation of units. Create and support workplace safety.

Salary & Benefits:

Compensation for this 9-month position is based on years of teaching at institutions of higher education, and highest level of education. Base pay for no experience ranges from $43,000 for a master’s degree to $49,880 for a doctorate. Overload and summer classes are paid separately.

Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. As a result, employees/retirees of the college are subject to the federal Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and possibly the Government Pension Offset (GPO) laws. Positions will remain open until filled. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check. Federal law prohibits the employment of unauthorized aliens. All persons hired must submit satisfactory proof of employment authorization and identity within three (3) days of being hired. Failure to submit proof within the required time shall result in immediate employment termination. All position appointments are subject to approval by the college's Board of Trustees.
