Job Summary:


The University of Kentucky, College of Health Sciences, Department of Athletic Training and Clinical Nutrition is seeking a full-time (12-months) non-tenure eligible, Research Title faculty member at rank determined by qualifications, to begin employment on July 1, 2022.
The College of Health Sciences, Department of Athletic Training and Clinical Nutrition is seeking a motivated individual that can contribute to ongoing funded clinical and pre-clinical trials investigating muscle recovery following musculoskeletal injury as well as muscle quality during aging and chronic illness. This effort includes a strong research agenda that incorporates a multidisciplinary approach that is dedicated to enhancing physical function with an emphasis on muscle quality, muscle progenitor cell cross-talk and genetic and pharmacological strategies. The primary obligations of this position are to National Institutes of Health-funded trials including data collection, sample analysis, interpretation and manuscript preparation.
The successful candidate for this position must have a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in biomedical science, physiology, or other related field with at least three years' postdoctoral research experience. Additionally, the candidate should have experience with rodent skeletal muscle contractile/mechanical testing, experience with skeletal muscle morphological and molecular analysis, prior experience analyzing and interpreting large data sets, proficiency in primary cell culture techniques, with strong effective verbal and written communication skills. This person will be expected to assist in fulfilling the research objectives of the Department of Athletic Training and Clinical Nutrition, to collaborate with other departmental and college faculty, and to provide mentorship to other research personnel including students, graduate student researchers, postdocs, and staff of the Center for Muscle Biology. This position will be a 12-month appointment with the option to renew contingent upon review and grant funding. The anticipated effort for this position is 95% Research/Scholarship and 5% Service.
