Research Assistant - Temporary
Job Description
The Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics seeks applicants for a temporary part-time research assistant to work in the laboratory of Professor Olga Troyanskaya over the summer.
- Perform molecular biology cloning experiments and next generation sequencing library prep. This includes activities like cloning plasmids for directed cell culture experiments and preparing libraries for screening experiments.
- Execute routine cell culture and cell culture experiments.
- Keep careful notes and notebook of experiments and results; paper and electronic will be required.
- Interface with computational biologists prioritizing the areas of biology we will study; discuss the neuroscience behind it.
- Attend and contribute to meetings with PIs, post-docs, graduate students, and collaborators of the Troyanskaya lab.
Essential:
- Experience with molecular biology and cell culture.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills; should be detail-oriented and meticulous.
- Proactive written and oral scientific communication.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of neuroscience or neurocognitive science and psychology is plus.
- Prior experience in research or clinical testing lab working with large numbers of samples
