Position Summary
The laboratory of Dr. Meijing Wang, within the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine, is seeking a highly motivated and independent post-doctoral fellow to study sex-related mechanisms in septic cardiomyopathy, with focus on cardiac mitochondrial response to inflammation using cell culture and murine models. Ongoing projects include molecular basis for sex dependent mitochondrial function in septic cardiomyopathy and single cell atlas of resident immune cells in the heart.

Basic Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in immunology, physiology, and cell and molecular biology.
  • Experience with cell culture, basic molecular biology methods, physiological and immunological techniques.
  • Experience with in vivo animal studies of cardiomyopathy.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Motivated, self-driven, and able to work independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Able to multitask and show interest in contributing to several projects ongoing in the lab.
  • Interested in collaborating with other members of the laboratory.
  • Will be expected to write manuscripts and give regular presentations within the lab.
  • Will be expected to present at scientific meetings and conferences.
  • Over time, may be expected to work with and mentor students from various levels of training.
