POSITION REPORTS TO: Assistant Director, Professional Development, Wolf Trap Institute
POSITION MANAGES: None
POSITION LOCATION: Hybrid – requires days onsite and allow telework.


Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts seeks an Early Childhood/Arts Specialist to manage professional development programs and activities of the Wolf Trap Institute.

 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review lesson plans for content, approach, alignment with curriculum standards; provide feedback to team members and teaching artists.
  • Contribute to the development of written and multimedia learning materials.
  • Observe and assess teaching artist practice in early childhood and professional development settings.
  • Present professional development content in virtual and in-person environments.
  • Provide coaching and training to teaching artists and teaching artist trainers.
  • Provide support to peer coaches and coordination for peer coaching efforts.
  • Implement, manage, and support training events and other professional development opportunities, including local and national program initiatives, roundtables, institutes, artist collaborations and multi-day training events.
  • Provide collaborative leadership for new artist recruitment and training.
  • Support the development of new professional development and family workshop content.
  • Seek, submit, and manage program proposals for local and national conferences in collaboration with program coordinators.
  • Represent Wolf Trap Institute with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current with trends and initiatives in Early Childhood Education, STEM, adult learning, coaching, virtual learning, professional standards, and academic content and approaches.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education or related field, Master’s Degree preferred
  • 5 years of experience in the field of early care and education, child development, or early elementary education (Kindergarten, Grade One, Grade 2)
  • Experience providing and creating professional development content preferred
  • Experience with family-centered and community-based services desirable
  • Experience with the performing arts/arts education highly desirable

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs; including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively across teams in problem-solving, developing and implementing positive solutions to meet department/program goals
  • Excellent time management skills, with evidence of overseeing, prioritizing, and regularly executing multiple deadlines
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the mission of Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts
  • Fluency in written and oral Spanish a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 60% of the time
  • Must be able to travel throughout Metro DC/MD/VA region with occasional travel in Virginia and nationally
  • Regularly operates a computer and other office equipment (i.e. calculator, copier, printer, etc.)
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, bend and reach with arms
  • Lift/move up to 10 pounds infrequently
