The Opportunity

The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering (CECE) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, Florida, invites applicants for a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure earning lecturer or instructor position with an anticipated start date of August 8, 2023. The primary responsibility of the position is teaching undergraduate courses in civil engineering, including core engineering science (e.g., Mechanics of Materials, Fluid Mechanics, Numerical Methods) and structural, geotechnical, or materials courses (e.g., Steel Design, Civil Engineering Materials). Secondary responsibilities include assessment related activities, service to the department, and may include teaching graduate courses (for lecturer position) in degree specialty to support the department. The selected candidate is expected to support the department’s teaching mission.

With more than 1,200 undergraduate and 250 graduate students, the CECE Department offers doctoral and master’s programs in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and ABET-accredited bachelor’s programs in Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering. Over 30 tenured/tenure-track faculty members and 4 lecturers conduct the instructional and research activities in addition to a vibrant community of adjunct faculty. Minimum Qualifications:

An earned doctoral degree (for lecturer) or master’s degree (for instructor) in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with prior university-level teaching experience, previous teaching experience with structural, engineering mechanics, and structural design courses, and to those who possess a Professional Engineering (PE) license in the United States.
