Invention Education Administrator, K-14

Job Description

INVENTION EDUCATION ADMINISTRATOR, K-14, Lemelson-MIT Program (LMIT), to facilitate collaborative efforts to support invention education offerings that span grades K-14 and help people learn to invent, protect their intellectual property, and bring creations to intended beneficiaries. Efforts will include annual events celebrating students’ work and accomplishments as inventors.  Will also support the development and implementation of new online and hybrid invention education offerings for educators and students; engage with educators/administrators and cultivate relationships and ongoing collaborations through paid memberships or other revenue sources; collaborate on developing grant and funding proposals, managing grant commitments, program budgets, and reports to funders; collaborate on invention education-related events; attend conferences and make presentations; and actively participate in research, evaluation, and new program development efforts.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in education, science, or engineering; three years’ professional experience in science, engineering, or teaching; excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills; good judgment and discretion with confidential information; proficiency with Microsoft Office; and a driver’s license.  Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies, e.g., all levels of program staff, education communities, high school students, and educators; work independently and/or collaboratively as needed to successfully deliver results; synthesize data for clear communication to diverse internal/external partners; and effectively coach/mentor people of different ages and levels of experience.  PREFERRED:  master’s degree or teaching credential; experience with databases, online survey development, online collaboration tools (e.g., Google Docs, Adobe Connect), and Macs; experience with Drupal; and experience with learning management systems (Canvas), databases, online survey development, online collaboration tools (e.g., Google Docs, Zoom, Adobe Connect), and programming language(s); and experience using Arduino, Micro:bit, or Raspberry Pi.  Job #22671-8

Some weekend work and occasional extended work hours can be expected. 

Must be able to travel nationally.
