Position Summary

The appointment is viewed as a training or transitional period preparatory to an academic, industrial, governmental, or other full-time research or teaching career. Learn and do neuroimaging and laboratory based research. Learn to train others in relevant techniques. Produce scientific publications and learn to write grants.

The appointment is of limited duration generally, not to exceed five years cumulatively unless there are extenuating circumstances. The appointment is not part of a clinical training program. The appointee trains under the supervision of a faculty member or a department in research.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Trains under the supervision of Scott A. Norris.
• Learns PET image analysis and apply to an ongoing data set.
• Learns MRI image analysis and apply to an ongoing data set. 
• Learns how to coordinate neuroimaging research data with behavioral data.
• Develops writing skills and prepares/submits papers on this research.
• Evaluates research findings and assist in the reporting of results.
• Presents scientific work both inside and outside the University.
• Assists with grant preparation and reporting.
• Assists in the design of research experiments.
• The conscientious discharge of research responsibilities.
• Conformity with ethical standards in research.
• Compliance with good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records open and timely discussion with the mentor regarding possession or distribution of material, reagents, or records belonging to their laboratory and any proposed disclosure of findings or techniques privately or in publications.
• Collegial conduct towards co-trainees, staff members and members of the research group; and adherence to all applicable University policies, procedures and regulations. All data, research records and materials and other intellectual property generated in University laboratories remain the property of the University.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree.

Working Conditions 

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
