Position Summary
The Indiana University School of Medicine has an exciting Postdoctoral Fellow opportunity within the team led by Drs. Yuichiro, Anita Bellail, Chunhai “Charlie” Hao, in Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Pathology & Laboratory Medicine for anticancer and antiaging drug discovery and development programs.
Our team investigates targeted protein degradation for the discovery of small molecule degraders. The team has recently reported the first small molecule degraders of SUMO1 protein as novel anticancer drugs (Bellail et al. Science Translational Medicine 2021, 13:e12947). The team are currently working on Cryo-EM structure guided and computer-aided drug design of small molecule degraders of oncoproteins and aging proteins.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be promoted to a faculty member.
The position is funded by NIH and ASC grants and salary is based on NIH standard postdoctoral fellowship starting at $56,484 plus full benefits and available for an initial appointment of one year, renewable for subsequent years.

Basic Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in the field of structural biology (Cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography) is strongly preferred.

Additional Qualifications
Demonstrated record of productivity in structural biology (Cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography) or/and biochemistry research as evidenced by publications. 
 
Strong biochemistry and molecular biology background to be able to generate and characterize the recombinant proteins and protein complexes related to cancer and aging for structural studies.
 
A strong commitment to experimental work is expected, demonstrated by an ability to determine structures protein complexes by cryo-EM or/and X-ray crystallography.
 
Computer skills and experience on Linux and Linux workstation.
 
Willingness to learn and implement structure-guided and computer-aided the drug discovery and development process.
 
A naturally collaborative and self-motivated style is necessary to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly integrated team environment.
 
Excellent written and oral communication skills demonstrated ability to write peer reviewed quality work, and able to present at a local, domestic and international conferences.
