A postdoctoral trainee helps design and conduct research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career. The specific area of research in which the trainee is mentored is determined by the department and laboratory of the Postdoc. A trainee develops new ideas that promote current research, and prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. A trainee may be responsible for operation of specific equipment and teach techniques

to others, and supervise research staff. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years.

 

Additional Information:

 

Within the collaborative research of Dean Jones, PhD and Young-Mi Go, PhD postdoctoral trainee will receive advanced training from Dr. Jones and Dr. Go in

order to enhance their professional skills and research independence needed for a career in research.  The postdoctoral trainee will help design and conduct research in the fields of redox biology, toxicology, molecular and cellular biology, and omics study (redox proteomics, metabolomics, transcriptomics, metallomics). The postdoctoral trainee will need to design, evaluate experiments, and develop new ideas that promote current research and prepare and publish scientific manuscripts under the direction of Dr. Jones and Dr. Go. 

 

 Minimum Qualifications:

A doctoral degree in research fields of biochemistry, redox biology, toxicology, molecular and cellular biology.  The PhD candidate expected to finish his/her study in the field of above within few months or postdoc fellow with less than 1 year experience can apply.

 

Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills are required, and an applicant should be eligible for applying grants/fellowships supported by federal funding sources (US citizenship or permanent resident status of applicant is preferable).
