Postdoctoral fellow in Cancer Epidemiology

A full-time postdoctoral research fellowship in is available to support research in HPV – associated cancers in vulnerable populations living with and at risk of HIV. 

The post-doc is expected to contribute to study design, implementation, project management, data analysis, and manuscript development within the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Institute of Human Virology, Division of Epidemiology and Prevention. The post-doc will work with multidisciplinary teams across several departments and institutes at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, other U.S. and international universities.  

Exciting scientific challenges and opportunities for career development are available for a motivated, high quality candidate. Research activities will include literature reviews, analyses of genomic data, database development and management, project management, qualitative and quantitative analyses, modeling and manuscript support that are related to HIV and cancer.  Applicants should be experienced in one or more of these methodologies. Other tasks may include preparing study protocols, study design and implementation, oversight of IRB submissions, oversight of student researchers, presentation at national and international scientific meetings, and grant writing. There are opportunities to work on other relevant projects as well.

We are seeking candidates with a doctoral degree in epidemiology, behavioral sciences, or related health field with substantive knowledge of cancer or infectious disease epidemiology. A strong quantitative background, ideally with Stata, SAS, or R is required. Experience with bioinformatics and microbiome analyses is a plus; the ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong organizational and record keeping skills; fluent English writing and verbal skills; and inter-disciplinary attitude.  Experience in field work and working in low- and middle-income countries a plus. The position is renewed annually based on satisfactory performance.  Position available immediately.

 

Qualifications

 

Applicant must have an MD/MBBS and/or PhD degree (in epidemiology or related discipline) and a documented track record of publications.
