Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Center for Agricultural and Rural Development in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences seeks an economist to assist with a project studying issues related to the industrial organization of the livestock and meat processing industry. The work involves the development of theory-based market-power models, data analysis, empirical estimation and calibration of imperfectly competitive equilibria, computation of counterfactual scenarios, and writing of research results.   


Required Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. degree in economics or agricultural economics  


Preferred Qualifications:

- Familiarity with Industrial Organization concepts and models

- Experience with computation of Nash-equilibrium models of imperfect competition

- Familiarity with data on the US livestock and meat-processing industry

- Strong programming skills, including experience with Matlab, Python, R, and Stata

- Strong writing skills
