The Director of Workforce Training & Education will provide significant leadership and organizational responsibilities for the Division of Workforce & Economic Development. All Workforce Solutions Managers will report to this position. The All aspects of the State funded Custom Fit Training program and associated staff members will also now report to this position. The establishment and training of a new Customer Relations Management (CRM) tool will reside within this position. Responsibility for reaching out to Industries, Companies and Professional Organizations in order to assess their Training and Educational needs for their workforce. Each of the eight established Industry clusters; Advanced Materials & Manufacturing, Business & Finance, Ed4Life, Energy, Healthcare, IT, Technical Trades and Transportation all reside within the service area of Salt Lake Community College and are integral to the regional economy.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Outreach to Companies, Professional Associations and Industries to assess training and educational needs. Significant local travel and meetings will be required to accomplish the position. A very high level of organizational and leadership skills will be utilized in order to keep a schedule that is highly effective.
Lead and evaluate a team of professionals (3 Managers, 3 Coordinators, 1 Administrative Assistant) that create and provide custom training, Custom Fit training, public training offerings/courses and manage relationships with area corporate trainers. Evaluate all offerings in order to maintain topic relevance within the eight identified Industry Clusters.
Represent SLCC on various workforce and economic development boards/councils as assigned by the Associate Provost of Workforce & Economic Development. Provide leadership and appropriate assignment of staff for external representation within our service area.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, organizational behavior and education, or related field.
Five (5) or more years direct, paid, full-time experience in development and delivery of corporate education/training programs, leading a team of professionals within a Higher Education environment.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in marketing, business administration, organizational behavior and education, or related field.
Seven (7) or more years direct, paid, full-time experience in development and delivery of corporate education/training programs within Higher Education environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Solid understanding of corporate life cycle and their related training and development issues.
Solid understanding of corporate life cycle and their related training and development issues.
Knowledge of workforce assessment tools and job profile processes.
Knowledge of Customer Relations Management (CRM) software and ability to lead and train staff within the Division on proper utilization.
Knowledge and experience in policy and procedures regarding financial distribution of subsidized training funds such as Custom Fit Training (CFIT) which are distributed to Utah’s higher education institutions.
Knowledge of a community college’s role as a leader in training entity for the public and private sector companies, professional associations and industries.
Familiarity with community college budget process, policies, and procedures.
Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
Excellent presentation skills and ability to write effective and concise training proposals.
Demonstrated computer expertise in Microsoft products such as MS Office, particularly Excel.
ABILITIES:
Increase visibility and awareness of corporate training opportunities offered through SLCC, e.g. CFIT, customized trainings and competency based programs;

Create and maintain training relationships with business and industry partners;
Manage multiple projects and activities concurrently;
Coordinate and communicate with various internal and external SLCC partners including SLCC staff and faculty, Corporate Training vendors, etc.;
Use marketing skills to identify, create and track new business opportunities to further develop and implement;
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
