What We Want

The Strader Lab studies the molecular basis of adaptation in reef-building corals. The candidate chosen for this short-term Postdoctoral Research Associate position will contribute to the lab's goal through analysis of whole genome data of Acropora hyacinthus during and after a mass bleaching event. This dataset will reveal key mechanisms contributing to reef resilience in this unique ecosystem. What You Need to Know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate PhD

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  •  Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in biology, ecology, evolution, genetics, genome science, data science, or another relevant field Experience with analyzing and interpreting high throughput sequencing data specifically in reef-building corals, including whole genome re-sequencing data

  • Background knowledge in marine population genomics with preference given to those that are familiar with the literature on Acropora population genomics

  • Experience mentoring and managing students from various backgrounds

  • Dedication to outreach and science communication

Responsibilities:

  • Research Data: Collects and analyzes the whole genome data of Acropara hyacinthus during and after a mass bleaching event. Prepares manuscripts.

  • Training: Contributes to the mentorship of graduate students and performs other duties as assigned.
