Summary of Position

The Associate Provost will have a deep understanding of the importance of working across traditional disciplinary boundaries to provide students an engaging learning experience that includes cluster pedagogy, high impact learning practices, and opportunities to develop and practice the Habits of Mind. This position works in close collaboration with the Provost to accomplish University goals and objectives involving the design, development, and delivery of high quality, integrated education. This position is classified as an Academic Administrator due to the administrative functions of this role and reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

  • Terminal Degree, 5 – 7 years’ experience at program coordinator, department chair, and/or AU leader level (or equivalent) or above.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and operational management capabilities
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of curriculum and curricular procedures
  • Knowledge of and commitment to effective advising practice
  • Strong experience in, knowledge of, and commitment to shared governance
  • Experience with assessment and accreditation
  • Superior writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively and collaborate at all levels of University and with external communities.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Promote the Vision, Strategic Goals, Guiding Principles and Core Values of the University through the development and activities of the Academic Units and work with administration, faculty and staff.
  • Support the Provost and Academic Units in the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of excellent faculty and staff.
  • Work closely with the Provost in developing and implementing strategies to increase student recruitment, retention, progression, and graduation rates. Office of Academic Affairs MSC 03 17 High Street Plymouth NH 03264-1595 T (603) 535-3500.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to implement and monitor ongoing program review and assessment in support of student, faculty, curriculum, and partnership development. This will include identifying programs that may need to be considered for reorganization as well as
    areas of potential growth and promising curriculum development.
  • Serve as the Provost’s representative to the University Curriculum Committee and the Academic Affairs Committee.
  • Serve as the Accreditation Liaison to the New England Commission for
    Higher Education.
  • Work closely with Provost in monitoring budget and personnel matters and recommending to the Provost and Cabinet allocation of resources to further the University’s growth. This includes monitoring course scheduling and faculty workloads.
  • Engage, contribute, and represent the University as a member of the President’s Cabinet.
  • Support the operational aspects of Academic Affairs to ensure compliance with University Polices including Academic, Financial, HR, and Union.
  • State, regional, and national travel is expected.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Provost.
