Position Summary
This position is responsible for various administrative, communications, and data management tasks on behalf of the development department. Reporting to the Director of Development (DoD), this position will also work closely with the Executive Director (ED) on special projects and plays a critical role in fundraising logistics, social media engagement efforts, and special events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain donor database (Salesforce for Nonprofits); responsible for generating various reports and streamlining data management processes
  • Process donations received across all platforms, ensure accurate database entry, and generate donation receipts in a timely manner
  • Participate in donor engagement and gratitude activities and planning
  • Assist DoD and related committees with event planning, management, and execution
  • Oversee volunteers/interns working on fundraising and communications tasks
  • Work closely with development team to maintain fundraising calendar, including events, appeals, and campaigns across different mediums and media platforms
  • Assist with content creation for various printed/electronic communications and promotions, including social media, e-newsletters, and PARL’s website
  • Represent the organization at community outreach/fundraising events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Must be skilled in Microsoft Excel and Word; previous experience with Salesforce for Nonprofits, Canva, social media platforms, and HubSpot strongly preferred
  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized; enjoys database management and related tasks
  • Experience working in administrative/fundraising field for a nonprofit organization strongly preferred
  • Animal welfare experience is a plus; must be comfortable around all types of companion animals and willing to increase skills in this area as the job requires (Working with and around shelter animals and daily operations is common in this role as it pertains to different promotions or donor engagement efforts.)
  • Able to prioritize and perform duties efficiently and effectively with independence
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have valid driver’s license; must be able to safely drive the organization’s cargo van
  • As a condition of employment, PARL requires all employees to be up to date with Covid 19 vaccinations as defined by CDC, unless employee has verifiable medical/religious exemption

Availability: This is a full-time, non-exempt position with some remote work allowed on a case-by-case basis. Schedule may include occasional evening or weekend work for special events and local travel.

Benefits & Pay: Hourly rate for this position ranges from $18-$20 per hour, commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical insurance (including dental and vision plans) at 80% paid by organization, Simple IRA with 3% company match, employee discounts, professional development support, and up to 80 hours of paid time off

Working Conditions: Work conditions include exposure to high noise levels, zoonotic diseases, cleaning agents, and allergens such as hay and peanut butter. The person in this position needs to regularly move about the shelter. Regularly operates a computer and other office equipment (i.e. calculator, copier, and printer). Occasionally positions self to handle animals of all sizes in a variety of areas and positions (low cages, high cages, on tables, on the floor, in vehicles, etc.). Constantly communicates with clients, staff members and volunteers who have inquiries and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

  • Administrative/Database Mgmt: 1 year (Preferred)
