NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range:

$101,400 - $201,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

The Component & Systems Analysis department is seeking an Electrical Engineer to work on a vibrant, high-productivity team for high-fidelity modeling and analysis for electrical devices and circuits. We are actively pursuing Research & Development (R&D) work to develop and apply novel modeling and simulation approaches, especially for multi-fidelity and cross-disciplinary applications.

You will be working at the premier engineering lab in the world in Advanced Science and Technology, performing modeling and simulation research for the nation's security!

You may work on projects that consist of the following:

  • Develop and simulate analog semiconductor device models (SPICE/Verilog-A)

  • Work closely with circuit designers, and experimentalists to create and exercise models and analyze, validate, and report results

  • For the interested applicant, opportunities may exist to collaborate with radiation and device physics experts, Sandia circuit, device, EM code developers, and other interdisciplinary experts

Qualifications We Require:

  • Masters in electrical engineering, applied physics or a related STEM field plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience OR Ph. D. in electrical engineering, applied physics or a related STEM field

  • Experience or training in physics and modeling of semiconductor devices

  • Experience working independently in a collaborative research environment

  • The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Knowledge of semiconductor device modeling software (e.g., TCAD, COMSOL)

  • Exposure to electrical circuit design (analog or digital) and/or modeling experience

  • Able to work both collaborative and independent work environments

  • Knowledge of a high-level programming language (e.g., Matlab, Python, C/C++)

Department 1356 is a multidisciplinary research and development group supporting NNSA Defense and other programs. Our capabilities include physical and computational simulation of electrical components and systems, model extraction, and theoretical behavior of components in extreme environments. This team is part of the Radiation, Electrical and High Energy Density (REHEDS) Research Foundation at Sandia.

Security Clearance:
