Job Description


Princeton University's Neuroscience Institute seeks applicants for a Research Specialist position to join a laboratory whose work focuses on neural mechanisms underlying sensory processing and sensory-driven behaviors in the fruit fly, Drosophila. We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual who has a willingness to learn and acquire new skills (and demonstrated track record in learning new techniques).

 

This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal contingent upon performance and funding



  • assist postdoctoral fellows in the lab on projects related to identifying neurons involved in multisensory integration behaviors; and assist with the anatomical characterization of neural circuits
  • perform general lab maintenance duties, including Drosophila genetic experiments and establish and maintain fly stocks
  • take on an independent project related to multisensory processing in flies.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Neuroscience, MolBio, Biology or related field.
  • Two years minimum prior research experience at a University or Medical School.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Outstanding references.
  • Basic computer programming skills (in Matlab or equivalent).
  • Willingness to learn and acquire new skills (and demonstrated track record in learning new techniques).
  • Working knowledge of neuroscience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Drosophila and/or performing neural recordings (electrophysiology or imaging) in animals.
