Greater Lansing Food Bank (GLFB) is seeking an organized, detail-oriented and reliable individual to join our philanthropy team as marketing & communications specialist. This specialist collaborates across the organization and within the marketing & communications/philanthropy team to promote GLFB’s work and raise the visibility of the organization through developing materials and compelling content. The ideal candidate has excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the willingness and aptitude to take initiative and figure things out. A passion for our mission of feeding those in need is a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

General

  • Create and print/publish materials, content and/or graphics for all requested organizational needs while ensuring GLFB brand standards are met
  • Under the direction of the marketing manager, prioritize and complete departmental marketing and communications needs as assigned through the department project management system
  • Track task status daily in the project management system, alerting marketing manager to delays or issues with projects
  • Organize and champion across departments organizational story collection and execute when necessary
  • Organize and maintain GLFB photo library
  • Maintain current internal/external communications/announcements via on-site digital displays
  • Support prioritization of and appropriately respond to media/interview requests; working with appropriate GLFB spokesperson(s) to set up varying media engagements
  • Support building relationships with TV and print media throughout GLFB’s service area

Digital

  • Upkeep all social media channels. Pull together monthly content calendars that integrate all org departmental needs along with marketing and communications goals, increasing brand exposure and encouraging engagement
  • Publish/schedule content; create written and/or visual content as necessary for social media and website
  • Regularly monitor all social channels and respond/participate in relevant conversations and DMs
  • Keep current in emerging trends and skills to meet rapidly changing social media environments
  • Provide monthly social media analytic reports to department leadership

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or similar field or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum two years hands-on, related experience
  • Familiar with AP Style and journalistic skills; strong writing and editing experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, comfortability interviewing or speaking with diverse groups of people
  • Attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills necessary
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress and Constant Contact or similar email platform

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
