The Opportunity

The Florida Center for Students with Unique Abilities in the College of Community Innovation and Education at the College of Community Innovation and Education invites applications for a research associate position.

We seek candidates who will enhance our representational diversity and whose research, teaching, and community engagement efforts contribute to diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning and working environments for our students, staff, and faculty. We hope to identify individuals who will assist in our mission to ensure that underrepresented groups have the opportunity to succeed at UCF.

Primary duties will include working closely with center staff to assist with facilitation and coordination of professional development activities related to Florida Postsecondary Comprehensive Transition Program strategic planning, application, and grant processes. Additionally, the research associate will assist with outreach efforts with a specific focus on dissemination of evidenced-based and promising practices that promote success for students with intellectual disabilities in postsecondary education. These activities will include researching, writing, editing, and proofing publications.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

• Experience working with youth and young adults with disabilities, preferably students with intellectual disabilities in a secondary and/or postsecondary education setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least three years of experience working with young adults with intellectual disabilities in inclusive postsecondary education programs.

• Knowledge of research-based transition education and services, and state and federal legislation regarding secondary transition, postsecondary education, and other relevant policies.

• Experience with designing and facilitating planning and implementation of program development and improvement activities.

• Leadership in professional development activities to include the ability to prepare materials directed at a variety of target audiences – youth with disabilities, parents, educators and community service providers, administrators, and researchers.

• Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills to perform job functions such as literature reviews, prepare manuscripts, reports, and professional presentations.

• Experience with grant proposal writing.
