Job Description

The Avalos lab at Princeton University is currently accepting applications for postdoctoral or more senior research positions from highly qualified candidates interested in metabolic engineering and synthetic biology. We are a team of chemical and biological engineers, biochemists, molecular biologists, and microbiologists interested in developing biotechnological solutions to address challenges in renewable energy, sustainable manufacturing, and human health. Our group specializes in dynamical and spatial control of engineered metabolisms using techniques such as optogenetics, subcellular engineering of natural (mitochondria) and synthetic (protein liquid condensates) organelles, microbial consortia, synthetic biology, cellular engineering, and protein engineering. The group is part of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (https://cbe.princeton.edu/). Ph.D is required. Qualified candidates will be highly motivated, with a strong background in chemical and biological engineering, bio-engineering, molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biophysics, computational modeling or related fields. Experience in metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, yeast genetics, or control theory is a plus but not necessary.
