What We Want
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work on either the computational or experimental (or both) projects. The Chakraborty lab develops and employs cutting-edge experimental and computational approaches to understand how genome structural changes contribute to heritable trait variation and adaptations. The computational projects involve comparative genomics using complete genome assemblies created with long reads (e.g., doi: 10.1038/s41467-019-12884-1).The experimental project will involve developing a high throughput fitness assay for Drosophila. What You Need to Know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.
Required Education and Experience:
Appropriate PhD
Preferred Education and Experience:
PhD. in Genetics/Genomics/Bioinformatics/ Evolutionary Biology or any relevant areas of Biology
Experience in model organism genetics, Drosophila genetics, evolutionary genetics, or genomics
Experimental design in genetics or genomics and evidence of at least one research paper (either preprint or published in a peer-reviewed journal)
Prior molecular genetics, computational, and/or evolutionary genomics experience
Experience in complex trait mapping or quantitative genetics
Experience in CRISPR and/or experimental evolution
Responsibilities:
Research: Designs experiments and collects and analyzes experimental data.
Documentation: Documentation compatible with reproducible research and writing papers.
Training: Trains new personnel on lab procedures.
Lab Maintenance: Maintains Drosophila stocks and lab data management, as well as performing other duties as assigned.
