The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a member of the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences team. This position will coordinate clinical research study, conduct clinical/diagnostic assessments, participate in delivery of clinical interventions and collection of biological samples, and the assessment of the outcomes. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of clinical research experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Other Requirements and Factors: If the degree had not been conferred at the time applicant applied for a postdoc position, a letter needs to be attached from the school’s official Graduate Office and/or Registrar’s Office certifying that all requirements for the degree have been met and stating the degree conferral date.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate doctoral degree

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

  • Strong verbal and communication skills

  • Knowledge of appropriate laboratory and technical equipment (e.g., an fMRI scanner and related tools that are required during a scan)

  • Knowledge of statistical analyses and statistical analyses software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D in neuroscience/psychology or related field

  • Knowledge of research in practical and or basic sciences and scientific publications

Responsibilities:

  • Independent research - Participates in designing experiments. Conduct clinical/diagnostic assessments, participate in delivery of clinical interventions and collection of biological samples, and the assessment of the outcomes. Supervise, coordinate, and assist with the completion of research projects. Develop and coordinate project plans through full implementation. Work to determine project needs. Coordinate recruitment, screening, scheduling, and data collection. Conduct phone screenings with study participants. Meet weekly with the study team to evaluate the progress. Organize study data bi-annually for submission to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Data Archive. Write reports and other related materials (IRB). Maintain database integrity, security, and accuracy. Coordinate project activities, value assessments, work plan development, estimating, and project controls. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

  • MRI data collection and analysis - Apply basic principles of functional neuroimaging (fMRI), experimental design, data collection, and analysis. Conduct neuroimaging experiments in the fMRI scanner, develop novel experiments and program stimuli presentation using Eprime and Presentation software, and analyze functional neuroimaging data using Matlab and SPM analytical packages.

  • Train and Oversee Medical Students - Train undergraduate, graduate, and medical students. Supervise the work of research assistants and research technicians. Analyze the data and prepare scientific reports and publications in peer reviewed journals. Present results of work in professional meetings and participate in grant submission process. Performs other duties as assgined.
