Faculty Compensation Administrator

Job Description


Stanford University School of Medicine (SoM) was founded in 1858 with a mission to be a premier research-intensive medical school that improves health through leadership, diversity, and a collaborative approach to discovery and innovation in patient care, education, and research. 

The Fiscal Affairs Group, a department within the School of Medicine’s Dean’s Office, is seeking a full-time Faculty Compensation Administrator.  The Faculty Compensation Administrator will provide support for the review and approval of Offer Letters and Addendums for the Clinician Educator population for the Faculty Compensation team, which administers compensation for the School’s 3,200 faculty and other teaching titles.

Duties include:

  • Review and approve offer letters, addendums and Personal Action Forms (PAF)  for new hires, ongoing actions, and terminations. Review relocation, sign on bonus, incentive and resource commitments to ensure that offers fall within school guidelines.  Review FASA actions correct data entry and coding of transactions. Work with and advise Department originators to ensure positions are coded correctly and offer letter content is correct. Obtain necessary approvals, notify originator of approved requests, and track and approve hire and job change transactions in FASA.   
  • Serve as a Faculty Compensation resource to HRAs, FAA’s and Department personnel regarding addendums  initiate, change, or termination  for School of Medicine faculty.  
  • Maintain up-to-date salary information, including annual updates for 3,200 faculty as well as daily tracking of faculty actions that will impact salary, leave status, etc. Audit completed transactions by running/reviewing activity reports on a bi-monthly basis. 
  • Maintain department signed copies of all Offer Letters, Addendums, Salary Notification Letters, and other faculty compensation documentation in Open Text and designated electronic files.
  • Participate in the development of software applications related to faculty onboarding and leaves.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Associate degree and two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to learn and apply general human resources policies using problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively handle highly sensitive and personal information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion.
  • Ability to consistently follow through with projects and assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong and effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 
  • Experience using email and internet.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, and use a telephone.
  • Occasionally write by hand, twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, sort/file paperwork.
  • Rarely kneel/crawl, operate foot and/or hand controls.

This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures . The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate. The expected pay range for this position is $47,000 to $80,000 per annum.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
