Who We Are
The Texas A&M University Cyclotron Institute, a Department of Energy University Facility, is jointly supported by DOE and the State of Texas and is a major technical and educational resource for the state and the nation. At the Institute, we focus on conducting basic research, educating students in accelerator-based science and technology, and providing technical capabilities for a wide variety of applications in space science, materials science, analytical procedures and nuclear medicine. Approximately 100 Institute members – scientists, engineers, technicians, support staff, graduate students and undergraduate students – are involved in these programs. What We Want
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for working on experimental projects under the direction of the line manager. This position will also develop and perform their own experiment projects at the Cyclotron Institute and other laboratories. What You Need to Know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.
Required Education and Experience:
Appropriate PhD
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with people from various backgrounds
Preferred Education and Experience:
PhD in nuclear physics
Experience-running and analyzing beam-based nuclear physics experiments
Experience with magnetic spectrometer and high-puritv germanium detectors (and other gamma-ray detectors)
Experience working with graduate and undergraduate students
Willingness to take on advisory roles for graduate and undergraduate students
Responsibilities:
Experiments: Works on local experimental projects under the direction of the line manager.
Experimental Projects: Develops and performs their own experimental projects at the Cyclotron Institute or other laboratories and performs other duties as assigned.
