The Patel Lab at the Department of Orthopaedics at Emory University is searching for motivated and energetic applicants for positions in the repair and regeneration of orthopaedic soft tissues. In particular, we are searching for a postdoctoral fellow or experienced technician to work on exciting new projects. In particular, the research fellow will use a combination of biomaterials, biomechanics, tissue engineering, and mechanobiology to study the early microenvironments in soft tissue repair and regeneration, and to test various therapies and scaffolds in order to enhance tissue function. The candidate will be able to develop a broad set of research skills in engineering and biology, lead his/her own project, and publish and present research findings. This position will also involve the use of translational animal models and interactions with clinical collaborators. Candidates will be supported and mentored both academically and professionally to pursue subsequent degrees and careers (PhD, MD, postdoc, faculty position). Candidates are expected to work
both independently and as a part of a larger orthopaedic department. Prior experience in cell/tissue culture, biomaterials, or biomechanics is preferred, but not required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.
