Position Summary


A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Kefalogianni lab. We are studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms of tissue injury, inflammation and fibrosis with a focus on kidney and rheumatic diseases. We are using a combination of cutting-edge cellular and molecular methodologies and analysis of in vivo disease models, in vitro cellular systems and patient samples, with the goal to understand fundamental mechanisms of tissue injury and disease progression. Current projects explore novel aspects of cellular and circulating TNF receptor 1 and 2 signaling and their roles in modulating disease outcomes.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages their own research project(s) with input from the PI.
  • Prepares results for presentations and research manuscripts and presents the work in conferences and scientific meetings.
  • Applies for postdoctoral research grants and assists PI in preparing funding applications.
  • Maintains adequate research records.
  • Provides guidance to undergraduate/graduate students and research technicians.
  • Adheres to all applicable university policies, procedures and regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree.
  • Strong background in biochemistry, cell biology or immunology.
  • Publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Works well with a team and appreciates working in a diverse workplace.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in disease models and small animal procedures.
  • Experience with single-cell RNA-sequencing and flow/mass cytometry.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
