Job Summary

The Director of Community Impact and Grants is a demonstrated leader in philanthropic giving specializing in grants, with a track record of securing seven-figure leadership gifts. This role is responsible for the grant strategy and administration system-wide with a focus on private funding. Works closely with System and Foundation leadership across Texas Health to identify private and public fundraising priorities and secure support for said priorities. Oversees a grant writer to support both pre- and post-award activities. Works collaboratively with System and Foundation leadership, Texas Health Research & Education, Texas Health Resources University, and Texas Health Community Health departments. This role coordinates and write all grant submissions on behalf of Texas Health, including public funding opportunities.

This position coordinates the philanthropic strategy for the regional work carried out by the leadership councils within Texas Health Community Impact. This requires coordination with the Director of Texas Health Community Impact to jointly blend the community health operations with philanthropy across the five regions in North Texas. Jointly they set the direction for the community health and Foundation staff and ensure execution of stated priorities.

Carries a portfolio of prospective donors (foundations/grants) with a focus on raising major and principal gifts. This position will oversee discrete, time-sensitive fundraising projects, focusing on prospecting, cultivating, and soliciting or positioning THRF and THR leadership to solicit philanthropic gifts for the hospital, THCI and/or THR's major fundraising initiatives. This position will work closely with fellow development officers throughout the foundation to determine the most appropriate donor-driven strategies for raising major and principal gifts or grants. This position will also maintain records of all cultivation strategies, evaluations, solicitations, and results of contacts with prospects within the Foundation database.

Annually, this position will be expected to meet or exceed fundraising key performance indicators as developed by Foundation leadership. Will meet with the Foundations leadership on a regular basis to review progress toward stated key performance indicators.

Job Duties Grant Management
Responsible for grants strategy for THRF that supports all grant requests on behalf of THRF, THRE, THRU and THCI. Oversees a grant writer responsible both pre-award and post-award grant administration (of both private and public funds, as appropriate).
Oversees the grants calendar for THRF and works collaboratively on the public funding calendar with THCI and THRE.
Research public and private funding opportunities for strategic fundraising initiatives for Texas Health.

Community Impact
Coordinates with Texas Health Community Impact (THCI) to develop trajectory projects and strategic initiatives for fundraising. Attends THCI board and regional council meetings to provide grant and funding updates.
Collaborates with THRF leadership to develop fundraising strategy, campaign materials (case for support, budgets, etc.), coordinate necessary meetings for prospect development and oversee THCI fundraising across regions.
Leads THCI foundation liaisons to ensure regional foundation teams are informed of THCI strategies and guides development of philanthropic plan to meet stated goals.

Portfolio Management
Working in conjunction with Foundation leadership and carries a portfolio of Foundation/Grant prospects and donors capable of making five, six, and seven-figure gifts.
Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards foundations, corporations and or organizations for the purpose of determining if they have the financial ability, capacity and interest in making a gift to the foundation or health system.
Builds and maintains strong community relationships with program officers/funders and local non-profits (for increased collaboration) within our community to align THR strategy and community need with potential funders.

Database Management
Documents all donor visits and correspondence via the use of contact reports in Raiser's Edge database.

Education
Bachelor's Degree required

Experience
7 years Major Gift fundraising experience; preferably in a healthcare environment required, and
direct proposal/grant writing experience required

Licenses and Certifications
CFRE - Certified Fund Raising Executive or GPC - Grant Professional Certification preferred upon hire

Skills
Excellent written and verbal skills. Ability to organize time wisely, prioritize workloads to meet deadlines, and able to respond to shifting needs and priorities. Must maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive, confidential information. Performs work with a high level of accuracy and an eye for detail. Strong software and technology skills, including Microsoft Office and a donor database system.

Travel Requirements
Local travel to meet with THCI Leadership Councils, meet with donors and staff meetings.
