Position Summary

The Los Rios Community College District is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for temporary part-time faculty (Adjunct) teaching assignments. These positions are filled on an as needed basis and are on-going recruitment efforts.

The department maintains a focus on:
  • Providing quality athletic and academic programs that enrich and empower students to reach their full potential as informed and productive members of their community.
  • Student success and equity.
  • Creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Collaboration and teamwork.
  • Preparing students for transfer and/or career in the kinesiology, health, and physical education professions.
  • Supporting the student success team, review disaggregated/equity data and work with the department on strategies.

Salary

$38.21 to $95.42 per hour. Rate determined by education requirement and type of assignment (lab/lecture/non lecture/substitute). LRCCD Salary Schedules

Assignment Responsibilities

The Adjunct faculty member will report directly to the Dean of Kinesiology, Health & Athletics/Athletic Director. The Adjunct faculty member shall be responsible for the following: Teaching assigned classes and helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in his/her regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member as outlined in the college faculty handbook.

The instructional assignment may include, but is not limited to, teaching courses in all levels of Adapted Physical Education.

The department curriculum includes Kinesiology Associate Degree for transfer, fitness courses, individual and team activity courses, adapted fitness courses, health education courses, and intercollegiate athletic courses.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Have a Master’s degree in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education; OR Bachelor’s degree in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education AND Master’s degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy; OR the equivalent*AND 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in adapted physical education; OR hold a California Community College Instructor’s Credential in the discipline area. All degrees must be from an accredited institution completed by time of hire.
  2. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
