We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Information Security Coordinator position located at our campus in Temecula, CA. Under minimal direction, the Information Security Coordinator reports to the Dean of Information Technology or designee. The Information Security Coordinator coordinates the District Information Security Plan and incident response procedures. The Information Security Coordinator monitors systems and networks for vulnerabilities, analyzes the vulnerabilities, and coordinates remediation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keep current with latest emerging security issues and threats
  • Develop and manage the frameworks, processes, tools and consultancy necessary to properly manage risk
  • Conduct assessments and audits to evaluate District compliance with FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA
  • Conduct assessments and audits to evaluate District compliance with industry best practices
  • Coordinate the District security awareness training program
  • Coordinate and perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing in compliance with District policy
  • Design, implement, maintain, and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Maintain expert knowledge of network and cybersecurity risks and mitigations
  • Serve as a member of the District Critical Incident Response Team
  • Design and execute incident response procedures in coordination with District Incident Response Team
  • Participate in the development of the District Information Security Plan
  • Coordinate the implementation of the District Information Security Plan
  • Perform advanced tier customer support
  • Monitor for security vulnerabilities and intrusions 
  • Analyze security vulnerabilities and recommends solutions for the remediation 
  • Prepare reports
  • Coordinate with stakeholders
  • Coordinate with vendors
  • Product assessment and procurement
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures
  • Make recommendations to leadership

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

 The incumbent should possess knowledge of:

  • Principles and methods of TCP/IP network technology design and administration
  • Virtual private cloud networking best practices
  • Intrusion detection and security configurations
  • NIST Cybersecurity 
  • Advanced systems analysis and design concepts
  • Information sources to maintain expertise in the field
  • Firewall configuration and management

 The incumbent should possess skills in:

  • Communicating effectively both orally and in writing
  • Maintaining documentation and records
  • Handling multiple assignments simultaneously and set priorities based on customer needs

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree (attach transcript) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification (CISSP); AND
  2. Two (2) years of demonstrated professional experience in advanced networking, firewalls management, and/or cybersecurity. AND
  3. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with others, including those from a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff
