Job Summary
The Human Health Sciences program, Department of Health & Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the University of Kentucky is currently accepting applications for a full-time 11-month special title (tenure eligible) faculty member to begin employment on July 1, 2023. The Human Health Sciences (HHS) degree is one of the three undergraduate degrees in the department. The HHS degree is designed to provide students with a comprehensive look at health care practices, a solid foundation in basic science, and robust opportunities to engage in real-world clinical experiences. HHS graduates are prepared to pursue advanced professional degrees in dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, optometry, athletic training, medical research, and more. Students are also being prepared for careers in patient navigation and leadership as well as graduate studies. Primary duties of this faculty position will include teaching undergraduate courses in the HHS program and bridge courses of the HHS and Clinical Leadership and Management undergraduate programs such as health quality and patient safety, the HHS Capstone (which includes a focus on leadership), research, and social determinants of health. The faculty member will also participate in curriculum development, advising/mentoring students, student admission activities, and other activities as assigned by the Program Director or Department Chair. Additional duties include participating in service across the department, college and university levels and scholarship and research activities as appropriate for special title series. The anticipated effort for this position is Instruction 65-75%, Research/Scholarship 10-20%, Service 8-10%, Professional Development 2-5% and will be considered based on an annual agreement.

Required Qualifications:
    • Doctoral degree in a health sciences related field with relevant experience; ABD considered.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years instructional experience in health sciences related course work in post-secondary education (especially undergraduates)
  • Teaching experience in health quality and patient safety, integrative capstone seminars and/or leadership, social determinants of health, and research
  • Demonstrated record of scholarship and/or research presentations and/or publications
