Full Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Director of Campus Housing is responsible to the Dean of Student Services for all issues related to the housing of students on the Wesson Campus.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position supervises and provides direction to staff engaged in Campus Housing
  • Supervises and assists with the recruitment, selection, evaluation, and retention of employees.
  • Facilitates orientation process for new employees in the area.
  • Implements university and department policies.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with college policy.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises and actively participates in the following student housing areas:
    • Checking into and out of dormitories
    • Room inventory
    • Room assignments
    • Room inspections
    • Room changes
    • Residents meet the requirement (course hours/GPA) to remain in campus housing
    • Withdrawal from the dormitory
    • Visitors in the dormitory
    • Dormitory maintenance reports
    • Dormitory council meeting each semester.
    • Dormitory hosts, hostesses, and resident assistants
    • Dormitory key inventory
    • Dormitory camera usage and placement for safety
    • Maintains and updates Fire Safety Manual and safety procedures for all dormitories.
    • Maintains confidential contacts for missing person notifications.
  • Supervises housing for non-student usage during the summer, such as summer camps.
  • Attends and assists with campus wide-events.
  • Assists the Dean of Student Services and the Assistant Dean of Student Services in disciplinary matters concerning dormitory students.
  • Serves as SGA co-advisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Five (5) years of full-time student service experience
  • Knowledge of campus housing trends

 

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's Degree
  • Previous campus housing work experience
  • Previous supervisory work experience

 

ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS:

  • The work environment is an office setting with moderate noise.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
