About the Department

The UNC-NCSU Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering stresses the application of science and engineering, mathematical analysis, and computer techniques to biomedical problems. The research and entrepreneurship of the faculty, students, and staff aim to accumulate, generate, and disseminate biomedical engineering knowledge to improve health care for the benefit of the people of North Carolina, the nation, and the world.

Essential Job Duties

The Student Services Coordinator position responsibilities included, but are not limited to: 
  • Offers support to the undergraduate coordinator, students, and faculty;
  • Serves as the first point of contact for students enrolled in and seeking information about the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering;
  • Organizes student events, leads student recruitment activities, and provides academic advice to students;
  • Maintains student applications to the Undergraduate and Masters’s programs;
  • Collects and reports student data;
  • Facilitates student communication;
  • Coordinates student access and manages course scheduling;
  •  Works with staff, faculty, and students in the UNC-CH division of the department to coordinate endeavors between the two campuses.

Minimum Experience/Education

Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
 
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of Excel and Word, PowerPoint, and computer software programs; 
  • Utilize Google Calendar to reserve classrooms and labs; 
  • Working knowledge of university academic structures and programs including registration and admissions;
  • Experience working with web editing tools is preferred;
  • Knowledge of LinkedIn and other social media tools;
  • Knowledge using the university Student Information System.
