Responsible for the oversight, implementation and quality of the Odessa College Sports Center aquatic and fitness facility, staff and programs.
Specific Position Duties
· Plan and implement regularly scheduled in-service trainings for staff; and ensure all staff have current certifications and comply with Odessa College employee policy and procedures.
· Responsible for creating and implementing an aquatic facility maintenance plan including maintaining water chemistry, filtration and chemical feed systems, pump room functionality, and the purchasing of required chemical and equipment supplies.
· Maintain highest quality of cleanliness and safety of the aquatic and fitness facilities, including water chemistry and equipment maintenance, ensuring that the Odessa College Sports Center aquatic and fitness facilities are always prepared for routine health inspections and audits.
· Create, update, and enforce Odessa College and departmental policies and procedures as they relate to risk management, facility usage, and patron usage.
· Develop, implement, and evaluate a variety of programs; including but not limited to group fitness, swim lessons, pool rentals, community fitness events and personal training; and certification courses such as group fitness instructor, lifeguard, and water safety courses.
· Research, develop, and implement new revenue generating fitness and aquatic programs.
· Coordinate with Sports Center, Athletic, and campus staff and departments to coordinate special events and programs as well as support campus-wide and departmental initiatives.
· Assist Community Recreation Director in analyzing the budget needs of the overall aquatic and fitness programs including but not limited to payroll, equipment and chemical expenses, and facility project projections.
· Assist with supervising the Odessa College Sports Center as needed.
· Supports college activities and special events through attendance and/or participation
· Use interpersonal skills and make sound judgments
· Carries out other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
· Minimum of two (2) years of relevant fitness, and/or aquatic and pool operations experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
· Ability to effectively supervise staff and complete tasks in a timely manner.
· Strong interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills.
· Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
· Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
Reporting Relationship
· Current Lifeguarding First Aid/CPR/AED certification;
· Current Lifeguard Instructor certification
· Current Group Fitness Certification
· Current Personal Training Certification
