With a new, permanent home at UCF’s Academic Health Sciences Center, we will have more space to prepare more Knight nurses with academic excellence and more opportunity to impact more lives with innovative, interdisciplinary research.

The Opportunity:

Research Assistant to recruit elder participants and conduct physical assessments and cognitive testing with participants for an NIH/NIA funded study at the University of Central Florida. This is a 5-year study, currently in year 2.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary Research team to recruit participants and conduct and document selected Nursing assessments and Cognitive testing with elder participants at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. 

Rolling recruitment of Participants will be used. Baseline interviews/assessments will be conducted at Visit 1, and participants will be scheduled every 3 months thereafter, for follow-up interviews, over a period of 3 years.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Registered or Licensed Practice Nurse (RN, LPN), with an active and unencumbered Florida Nursing License or Student Nurse in an accredited 2-4-year Nursing program, with documentation of having completed (at a minimum) a Physical Assessment nursing course with associated Laboratory experience, and enrollment in Adult/Gerontological and/or Psychiatric Nursing courses and associated Clinical experiences.
  • Resume or CV to accompany application.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered or Licensed Practice Nurse (RN, LPN), with an active and unencumbered Florida Nursing License or Student Nurse status in an accredited Nursing program, with documentation of having successfully completed (at a minimum) a Physical Assessment nursing course with associated Laboratory experience, and enrollment in or successful completion of Adult/Gerontological and/or Psychiatric Nursing courses and associated clinical/laboratory experiences.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with a professional research team.
  • Excellent therapeutic communication and computer skills.
  • Training in administration of selected Cognitive assessments and in data entry using RedCap will be provided by the research team.
