Position Summary

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Ying Liu with a focus on cancer health disparities and health service research in the Division of Public Health Sciences at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Ying Liu and join a research team with multidisciplinary expertise, including cancer epidemiology, social epidemiology, cancer health disparity, health service research, cancer-related health behaviors, clinical cancer treatment, and Geographic Information Systems. The ongoing projects are funded by the NIH to elucidate the modifiable factors across patient, provider, neighborhood, and health policy levels that are associated with cancer treatment and outcomes in African American patients and low-income patients.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designs and carries out advanced analyses of population-based data.
  • Evaluates research findings and presents results at meetings.
  • Publishes results in scientific journals.
  • Works in a cooperative manner with other members of the supervisor’s research group.
  • Assists with grant preparation and reporting.
  • Maintains conformity with ethical standards in research.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree.
  • Strong research experience demonstrated by publications in scientific journals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent skills in data analysis, manuscript writing, and communication.
  • Training and/or research experience in public health, epidemiology, health disparity, and/or health service research is highly desirable.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
