The laboratory of Dr. Sandeep Mallipattu in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine at Stony Brook University School of Medicine is seeking highly motivated candidates for postdoctoral training related to kidney research. Our research program focuses on identifying mechanisms involved in the development and progression of kidney disease secondary to cancer, chemotherapeutics, autoimmune disease, infection, and metabolic disorders (such as diabetes and hypertension). Specifically, we investigate the mechanisms that regulate proliferation, differentiation, and regeneration in the kidney. We are currently using novel in vitro and in vivo approaches to establish the physiological and pathophysiological models for these disease processes in the kidney; as well as high-throughput screening strategies to identify small molecular compounds that might serve as novel therapeutic agents in kidney disease.

Successful applicants may select from multiple projects and should have experience in most of the following areas: 1) Background in cell/molecular biology, 2) Experience with mouse models, 3) Experience with cell and molecular biology techniques including PCR, western blotting, flow cytometry, cell culture and immunohistochemistry assays.  The applicant must have excellent writing and communication skills and will be expected to take an active role in oral presentations, manuscript preparation and grant applications. The applicant will also be responsible for the supervision and training of other lab members.

 Specific Duties:

  • Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct experiments and data analysis.
