The successful candidate will perform research activities under the direction of a TAMUG faculty member which may include multiple and multi-disciplinary projects. Fellows are expected to elevate the research effort at TAMUG working alongside faculty members, developing research ideas and publishing the results of their work in top tier journals. What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate with selected hire's experience.

Required Documents:

  • Short research proposal (2-3 pages) to be carried out at TAMUG in collaboration with current TAMUG faculty member(s)

  • Description of Doctoral Research and publication record

Please Note: Fellowships will provide 100% salary support for 1 year, with potential for a one-time 1-year renewal upon performance and successful recommendation of the advisor. Each fellowship must be sponsored by a TAMUG faculty member who may only support one research proposal per year. TAMUG faculty members must be able to provide support for items such as travel, computer and miscellaneous expenses. Each fellow will receive a competitive compensation package.   Publications in open access journals only (e.g., PLOS One) will receive funds to defer publication costs. Post-doctoral Fellows will be selected by a multi-disciplinary university faculty committee from an applicant pool based on their application materials.

Required Education:

  • Appropriate doctoral degree in field relevant to proposed area of study; If the degree has not been conferred at the time applicant applied for a postdoc position, a letter needs to be attached from the school’s official Graduate Office and/or Registrar’s Office certifying that all requirements for the degree have been met and stating the degree conferral date

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Research experience that can be applied to the study of the Blue Economy of Texas and the Gulf of Mexico, in particular research that focuses on one of the five strategic areas of:
  • Coastal Resilience
  • Ocean Exploration

  • Marine Transportation/Power at Sea

  • Seafood Production and

  • Resilient coastal Communities.

  • Collaboration with TAMUG faculty member who has agreed to serve as a sponsor and contributed to the research proposal is preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Research activities - Research activities under the direction of a TAMUG faculty member may include multiple and multidisciplinary projects. Fellows are expected to elevate the research effort at TAMUG and as such will be expected to publish in top tier journals.

  • Supervision - Supervision of other research personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.
