Postdoctoral Fellow, Biological Anthropology

Job Description


This position is a 1 year-long post-doctoral fellowship, available under the supervision of Dr. Ashley Hammond and Dr. Sergio Almécija at the American Museum of Natural History. This is a full-time research position related to the evolution of apes and humans. Research must include themes related to the interplay between phenomics and neurological/sensory evolution and/or development. Ideally, the research will combine novel aspects of imaging, morphometrics, and evolutionary modeling. Position may be renewable for a second year upon satisfactory progress in research.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Carry out independent, novel research in collaboration with supervisors, with the goal of publishing high-quality research articles.
  • Work with other lab group members as a mentor and collaborator on research projects and laboratory procedures.
  • Assist with digital data collection, and management and general organization and coordination of the work in the laboratory.

The expected salary range for the Postdoctoral Fellow, Biological Anthropology is $64,500 - 66,450. The AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.

Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.
