SLCC’s award-winning Orientation & Student Success department supports this mission by preparing new and returning students to thrive in higher education. • Collect and evaluate data relevant to the student experience at the North regions and use data to inform work.

New Student Orientation & Transition Programming
  • Orient individual and groups of students in understanding the requirements for all SLCC areas of study and educational pathways by organizing and leading college-wide events.
  • Supervise, train, and support the professional development of part-time peer mentors.
  • Work with staff, peer leaders, and faculty to advance the retention, success, and completion goals of OSS and SLCC.
  • Present information about SLCC student life and academic culture to groups of students.
  • Explain degree prerequisites, course sequencing, course modalities, registration holds, and other enrollment information to new students.
