Summary

The Faculty Development Program Manager oversees the development and ongoing management of programs for faculty within the Medical School. The Program Manager will develop the individual program projected budget, inform of staffing requirements, and ensure the program meets its stated objectives. This role reports directly to the Assistant Director of Leadership Development.

Responsibilities*

Manage the logistical implementation of mission critical initiatives (e.g., mentoring, coaching, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives) including the development of project plans and timelines, scheduling programs and presenters, preparing program materials, and sharing progress reports related to project deliverables.

In collaboration with the faculty advisory committee(s), assist consultants in the development and planning of new projects to support improvements in career advancement and skill development.

Manage committee resources: Develop meeting agendas and take meeting minutes, execute outstanding committee projects, and deliver committee outcomes and progress with organizational stakeholders.

Serve as a Faculty Development representative to external stakeholders.

Manages other ad hoc projects and workshop creation as required.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 4+ years’ experience working in a program management or related role
  • Excellent communication, project management and team leadership skills.  Ability to effectively negotiate ideas with stakeholders
  • Experience leading and implementing innovative programs in an unstructured environment.
  • Experience working with faculty and high-level executives.
  • Demonstrated leadership and independent decision making.
  • A high level of problem-solving skills, including demonstrated ability to anticipate next steps based on multiple inputs and prioritize decisions.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including ability to plan, organize, and follow through on a large and diverse workload, while attending to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Passion and involvement in enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

Job openings are posted for a minimum of seven calendar days.  The review and selection process may begin as early as the eighth day after posting. This opening may be removed from posting boards and filled anytime after the minimum posting period has ended.
