Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Coordinator, Teamwork, Leadership and Collaboration, at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) will coordinate the design and development of programming efforts for USG Student Organizations. The Coordinator will be responsible for providing leadership and management of student organizations, and a variety of student life activities’ programming and promotion. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule including evening shifts as well as some weekends as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited university/college required.

Experience:
2 years of student services and/or student affairs experience developing, executing, and assessing programs, services and/or events in a higher education environment required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in written and oral communications with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to develop collaborative partnerships.
  • Ability to be flexible and creative with a commitment to high quality.
  • Skilled in customer service.
  • Ability to work with student service management systems and general office technology.

Preferences:

Preferred:
  • Event planning and promotion experience.
  • Experience leading or supporting student groups.
  • Experience working with marginalized/underrepresented communities.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish)

  • This is a Contingent II – Contractual position.
  • This position is located in Rockville, MD.

Physical Demands

Professional office environment. Typical workday requires several hours of sitting, talking and computer-based work. Physical activities include set up and break down of events, and standing for long periods of time. This position may require working 1-2 evening shifts a week as well as some weekends as needed.
