What We Want

The Gomer Lab is studying chemorepulsion using both Dictyostelium and human neutrophils. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will assist with NIH-funded studies to elucidate the signal transduction pathways used by chemorepellents, with two goals. The first is basic knowledge, and the second is to develop neutrophil chemorepellents as potential therapeutics for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The selected candidate will contribute to this goal by conducting research experiments and assisting in the training of students on lab techniques. What You Need to Know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Required Education and Experience:

• Appropriate PhD

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Research experience in cell or molecular biology

• Experience with cell culture , microscopy, purifying recombinant proteins, and molecular biology

Responsibilities:

• Research Experiments: Executes research experiments and analyzes results, using cell and molecular biology, microscopy, and some biochemistry.

• Lab Duties: General laboratory duties such as purchasing supplies, model organism maintenance, and maintaining a safe working environment.

• Documentation: Maintains an accurate laboratory notebook, writes manuscripts, presents findings, and contributes to grant proposals.

• Training: Trains new personnel on lab procedures and performs other duties as assigned.
