The Opportunity

The Psychology Department at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for multiple nine-month, non-tenure earning lecturer positions that will support our Psychology B.S. program. These positions will be located at either the university’s main Orlando campus, UCF’s Metrowest campus, or UCF’s Lake Mary campus, and are anticipated to begin in Fall 2023. Based on current workload policy, duties will include teaching a 4/4 load of large face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses (ranging between 75 and 450 students) and service in support of the program and the department in general.

The Psychology Department emphasizes breadth of psychology education while allowing students to pursue one of six specialized tracks: Clinical Psychology, Industrial Organizational Psychology, Human Factors, Experimental Psychology, Neuroscience, and General. Psychology is one of the most popular majors at UCF with over 4,000 undergraduate majors and 150+ graduate students. At the same time, we emphasize critical thinking, strong written and oral communication skills, and professional development. This is accomplished by offering career readiness, research opportunities, and high impact learning experiences such as honors theses, undergraduate teaching assistant internships, peer advising internships, service learning, and study abroad.

The College of Sciences (COS) houses most of the university’s natural, computational, and social sciences in eight departments, two schools, and eleven centers. The college’s programs play a key role in advancing UCF as a national research university that is determined to help students from all backgrounds achieve success. Minimum Qualifications:

A doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field from an accredited institution by the time of employment is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who:

  • have demonstrated experience in successful undergraduate teaching of research and statistical methods, clinical psychology, and/or experimental psychology courses,

  • have demonstrated experience in teaching in online and face-to-face modalities,

  • can develop and coordinate high impact opportunities for our students,

  • can demonstrate experience and/or innovative teaching strategies to engage students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal and educational experiences.

  • a concise statement (no more than 300 words) addressing your experience and/or innovative teaching strategies used to engage students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal and educational experiences.
