
Head Coach Co-Ed and Women’s Sailing/Physical Education and Wellness Instructor
Job Description
HEAD COACH CO-ED AND WOMEN’S SAILING/PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND WELLNESS INSTRUCTOR, Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER)-Intercollegiate Sports, to manage all facets of the MIT co-ed and women’s varsity sailing programs. This will include administration; budget management; alumni stewardship; recruiting; scheduling competitions, team travel, and weekly practice sessions; advising students; and ensuring compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations. The position will also include teaching responsibilities and instruction in the required physical education and wellness program and additional department-wide duties as assigned.

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree, preferably in the physical education and wellness or related field; at least three years of coaching experience, preferably at the college/university level; advanced-level knowledge of team racing rules, strategy, tactics, and theories; ability to run and coach advanced team racing practices/races; demonstrated leadership within the sport and intercollegiate sailing; administrative, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills; and familiarity with light fleet maintenance and safety operations at a sailing pavilion. Appropriate certifications in first aid, CPR, AED, and biohazards are required within thirty days of hire.
