Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

This position works under the direction of the Business Manager in the School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures to process procurement, reimbursement and travel requests, keep track of expenditures, and perform account reconciliation.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION
  • Bachelors degree.
EXPERIENCE
  • Two years experience in administrative staff work.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Elementary knowledge of reference and research methods and techniques used in collecting, compiling, and organizing data and information; of basic methods and techniques used in organizing and conducting studies and analyses or programs, procedures, and organizations; of basic analytical and statistical principles and techniques. 
  • Skill in the use of office automation software and its application; in operating manual and automated office equipment. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; to present ideas and information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; to perform mathematical computations; to present statistical material in chart and graph form.

OTHER:
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferences:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the financial arena performing purchasing, travel, and account reconciliation work.
  • Experience with UMD systems: Kuali Financial System, BA4 Priority Software, ELF.
  • Proven proficiency with standard office applications (i.e., Email, Microsoft Office and Excel, Adobe Acrobat).
  • Excellent organizational skills, proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities, and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills to successfully function in a diverse international community.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work in an office environment requiring the ability to operate standard office equipment, including computer, printer and copier.

Repetitive motion, including substantial movements and motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers.

Visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and reviewing data, extensive reading, and viewing a computer.

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
