Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Brin Mathematics Research Center (Brin MRC) was funded in 2022 and itsmission is to promote excellence in mathematical sciences. Activities sponsoredby the Brin MRC include long-term programs, conferences and workshops, speciallecture series, and summer schools. The Center is part of the Department ofMathematics.
We seek a highly organized and personable individual with excellent customerservice experience related to event planning. The successful candidate will jointhe Math Department Business Office and the position will bridge over to the BrinMathematics Research Center.
The primary role of the Brin MRC Coordinator is to oversee and coordinate allactivities taking place at the Center.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of event related experience showing progressive responsibility in event planning; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Superior customer service skills and friendly disposition.
  • Skilled in discovering and anticipating client needs by providing creative event solutions.
  • Very punctual with attention to details, specifically within scheduled timeframes.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and maintain effective work relationship with departmental colleagues and visitors. Show strong organizational skills and able to work collaboratively in a dynamic work environment.
  • Computer proficiency required, including competency in Excel, Word and other commonly used office software.

Preferences:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior work experience in an academic environment.
  • Preferred knowledge, but not required, of the following UMCP systems: BA4 (Accounting Shadow System) and SAP Concur (Travel System).
  • Experience in graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suites). Familiar with webpages (basic website updates) and databases (participants’ data updates).
