Job Description

The Economics, Accounting and Business Department at Converse University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Business Administration (with expertise in Statistics and Sports Management) at the Assistant Professor level to begin in Fall 2023.

We are seeking someone with the broad credentials and enthusiasm needed to teach a general undergraduate business statistics course on at least an annual basis, and to develop and teach various business-based sports management courses such as Sports Management Principles, Sports Economics and Finance, Sports Analytics, etc.

A Ph.D. in Business, Sports Management, or a closely related field such as statistics, economics, accounting, or finance), is preferred; there needs to be demonstrated sports management expertise either via training or research and the academic qualifications to teach statistics. Preference will be given to candidates who are qualified and willing sometimes to teach a few courses in another business area, such as management, economics, finance, or accounting.

The standard teaching load is 24 credit hours per year, (often fulfilled by teaching a 4-4 or 3-1-3 with the 1 course in the middle taught as part of the Jan Term intercession). Additional responsibilities include advising students, assessing student learning, curriculum development, and providing service to the department, university, and community. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal-arts setting and provide evidence of excellence in teaching and continued professional development, as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues across campus.

Converse University is a private, coed liberal arts university with an enrollment of ~1,284 traditional and non-traditional undergraduate and graduate students. The department supports undergraduate majors in Economics, Accounting, Business Administration (with concentrations in Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, Marketing and Sports Management), and Healthcare Administration.
