Job Summary

The School of nursing is expanding on an exciting new plan to accelerate and innovate faculty practice into the UCSF health system and beyond. The SON will create new clinical offerings for its clinical partners and contract with these partners to deliver these offerings on their behalf. In order to succeed in these new arenas, we are developing new partnerships and care delivery models, which need strong project management, leadership and support.

Given the type of work and our organizational culture, the Contract & Credentialing Administrator will collect and interpret data from various sources, have strong problem solving and presentation skills, have a good understanding of clinical care and be a strong team player.   Incumbent will  be the liaison to SON faculty, external healthcare partners as well as key UCSF health leaders and clinic directors.

Independently uses and applies in-depth knowledge and experience in the area of nursing clinical affairs on projects that typically impact the entire School of Nursing or programs external to the organization. Regularly works on highly complex issues of strategic engagements where analysis of circumstances and information requires an in-depth evaluation of factors.

Operates in a highly visible, politically sensitive, legally complex and evolving arena. Works on significant, strategic issues and problems requiring political sensitivity, where analysis of circumstances, processes and information requires an in-depth evaluation of factors. Primarily deals with programs and proposals with broad impact across all School of Nursing clinical activities. Develops and oversees the implementation of new integrated clinical programs and processes.

The Contract & Credentialing Administrator reports to the Manager and Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs and works in close collaboration with the executive leadership in the School of Nursing.

The position will support the contracting process which includes contract negotiations with internal and external stakeholders. Other administrative responsibilities include supporting the Faculty Practice Committee, and assisting SON faculty with credentialing compliance administration.

This position will manage the administrative services of an academic organization related to contract and credentialing administration. Administrative services include activities in finance, human resources, and may also include IT or facilities.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience
  • Thorough knowledge of internal departmental / unit operating policies, applicable state and federal regulations and general contract terms.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of specific contracting assignments.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills; and ability to deal effectively with broad and diverse constituencies ensuring strong customer service orientation and skills.
  • Strong organizational, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong listening and political acumen skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the organization, including its infrastructure, goals, mission, rules, policies, guidelines, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in health care administration field, nursing or other health field.
  • Minimum of 2 years recent experience in health system administration, ambulatory, primary or specialty care.
